In the EUMETSAT matrix organisation, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division is responsible for providing applications and support services regarding Information and Communication Technology to the organisation. The ICT Division is a dynamic team of more than 50 technicians and engineers, which operates, manages, troubleshoots and implements changes to corporate ICT systems, including desktop and mobile IT equipment, SAP, Documentation Management Tool, EUMETSAT web sites and the intranet.

In this pivotal role as SAP Application Development Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of our SAP systems, driving innovation and enhancing our current infrastructure. Your primary focus will involve direct collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop new applications aligned with the EUMETSAT Digitalisation and SAP Roadmap.

Duties

The main duties include:

  • Overseeing all custom developments (ABAP, FIORI, Web Dynpro, etc.) within the EUMETSAT SAP Systems, manage the implementation process either personally or by coordinating with third-party entities, conduct code reviews to ensure the system's quality by adhering to best practices;
  • Provide support for day-to-day operations of the EUMETSAT SAP System to EUMETSAT end-users, covering SAP Authorization, User Management, development and system related problems, and workflows;
  • Contribute to verification and validation tests by documenting and updating relevant test cases and scripts;
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SAP Authorization concepts and strategies, configure and manage user roles, profiles, and authorizations to ensure data security and compliance;
  • Support the reporting initiative by leveraging tools such as Power BI by preparing and transforming data sets;
  • As a member of the SAP Team, work closely with the team on requirements definition, implementation, and end user support, and act as a backup for other team members in their absence, providing expertise and support in all SAP-related matters.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience with SAP ABAP, Fiori and S/4 HANA Developments;
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP application and security architecture, role design, and authorization concepts, and SAP system change processes;
  • Knowledge/experience of SAP Systems in at least one of the SAP Finance, HR or Logistics Areas, preferably in SAP S/4HANA Environment would be advantageous;
  • Experience of working in a team environment with involvement in a continuous improvement process;
  • Experience of working in a public sector organisation comparable to EUMETSAT would be advantageous;
  • Knowledge of incident and change management fundamentals and principles, preferably having used processes conforming to the ITIL standard for IT Service Management would be advantageous;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, combined with a proactive and helpful working style.

Employment Conditions

The initial contract will be of 4 years’ duration, with subsequent 5 year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of follow-up contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT.
This post is graded A2/A3 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 7146 per month (net of internal tax but excluding pension contribution and insurances) which may be negotiable on the basis of skills and experience. The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year.
