
Senior Optical Engineer

As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Senior Optical Engineer - to join our group.
What you’ll do
- Create optical systems requirements gathering process for complex projects.
- Create optical systems design and participate in critical design reviews.
- Perform detailed optical design, including non-sequential ray tracing and design for manufacturability.
- Interfacing with a multi-disciplinary team, providing guidance, know how and training to optical engineers, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers
- Design and development of optical metrology systems.
- Oversee the design, build, and calibration of optical instrumentation.
- Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures for optical systems.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of MBRYONICS design practices, project management methodologies, and product development standards suitable for space applications.
- Provide patent expertise and contribute to intellectual property strategy.
- Participate in software development activities relevant to optical systems and data processing. Drive the continued development and application of data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced computational processes within optical systems engineering.
Who you are
- Education level and field of study (e.g., PhD or MSc in Optics, Physics, Engineering)
- Years of relevant experience in optical systems design and development
- Specific experience with satellite communications or space-based optical systems (if required)
- Proficiency in optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V)
- Experience with adaptive optics and wavefront control
- Knowledge of optical metrology techniques and instrumentation
- Familiarity with design for manufacture and assembly principles
- Understanding of space environment requirements and standards Experience with software development languages (e.g., Python, C++) (if required)
- Experience with data analysis tools and techniques
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers
- Experience with project management methodologies
- A proven track record of innovation and patent filings (desirable)
