Mission Control System Operations Engineer (f/m/d)

Who You Are

We are looking for a Mission Control Systems (MCS) Operations Engineer to join our service team at EUMETSAT, where you will be responsible for providing cutting-edge mission operations services for the MTG program. The start date is asap and is negotiable.

What You Will Focus on 

• The design and development of the MTG Mission Operations Facility, related subsystems and interfaces, in particular with a focus on the Mission Operations Facility operability
• The definition and implementation of Mission Operations Facility sub-system acceptance and MOF system integration testing, in particular with a focus on the definition of operationally relevant validation test scenarios
• The analysis of MTG specific Packet Utilization Services (PUS) with the goal to develop operational concepts compatible with the Mission Operations Facility design
• The execution of Mission Operations Facility system verification and validation activities
• The definition and implementation of MTG Ground Segment system verification and validation activities, including formal system operational validation, SSVTs, and operations rehearsals
• The refinement of the MTG mission operations concept in relation to the Mission Operations Facility and its implementation in the Reference Operations Plan and System Operations File, including related documents and procedures, databases, etc.
• The execution of MTG Ground Segment, Mission Operations Facility system, and Mission Operations Facility sub-system reviews, technical meetings, and scheduling and planning meetings
• On-call support for MTG operations

What You Bring

• Proven experience in the domain of satellite Mission Control Systems and in maintaining large scale software systems in an operational environment, preferably related to high-availability (24/7) applications
• Integration and verification testing of complex Mission Control System applications
• Familiarisation of documentation such as Software Requirements Specifications (SRS), Architectural Design Documents (ADD) , Interface Control Documents (ICD) and Test Plans
• Knowledge of CCSDS and ECSS standards relevant to the MCS domain
• Knowledge of one or more of the following domains/systems would be an advantage: spacecraft simulations, ESA MICONYS, SIMULS, DABYS software suites
• proficiency in linux
• Shell, Python and C++ programming experience
