Job Overview

We're looking for Ground Segment Operations Engineers for our proposed service team onsite at EUMETSAT, delivering world-class services in the area of Ground Segment engineering and operations. The team will work with the prestigious Copernicus missions within EUMETSAT.

This full-time and unlimited position is based at the customer site EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, and the expected starting date is September/October 2025.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform requirements engineering for ground systems in operations and development, working with DOORS databases.
  • Create and contribute to the description of the system architecture and interfaces between external systems and the mission-specific elements of the ground system, working with the ECRs and Technical notes
  • Perform technical analysis of system architecture and evolutions of specifications or major upgrades of the operational ground systems, ensuring interface coherence and compatibility with ongoing developments, working with RIDFs, ICDs
  • Contribute to the IV&V testing approach for major evolutions of operational ground systems and coordinate integration and verification of new systems into the infrastructure, working with DOORS and Verdi
  • Contribute to the definition of the IV&V approach for future ground systems.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and evolution of MBSE models using tools such as Enterprise Architect, Core 9, and DOORS.
  • Contribute to operations preparation, including operational validation tests, coordination of commissioning activities, and the definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Good educational background in System Engineering or a related field
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Systems Engineering and IV&V activities for at least one major element (e.g., PDP, MOC, Archive) of a ground segment for Earth observation missions.
  • Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes and system/software life-cycles and standards.
  • Good experience with managing technical requirements in tools like DOORS.
  • Experience in interface definition and management, including preparation and maintenance of ICDs.
  • Experience with formal testing (FAT/OSAT), including preparation of test procedures and TRRs/TRBs.
  • Experience in operational environments under strict configuration control.
  • Experience with operational validation campaigns, commissioning activities (e.g., LEOP, SIOV), and KPI definition.
  • Experience with Data Processing systems and Satellite Mission Control Systems for Earth observation missions.
  • Experience in verification control processes and maintenance of VCDs.
  • Use of MBSE tools and languages (e.g., SysML in Enterprise Architect or Core 9).
  • Knowledge of ground segment technologies, including JIRA, Confluence, relational databases, virtualisation, networking, and SW deployment tools.
