Financial Accounting Manager

Reports To

Finance Director

Key Purpose of Job

Management of the Financial Accounting function within the overall Finance department

Key Tasks

  • Leadership of Accounting team with direct line management of two members of staff (Assistant Accountant and Accounts Payable Team Leader). Management activities include recruitment, performance management, career & personal development, mentoring & wellbeing.
  • Allocation of resource to fit the workload requirements of the overall function.
  • Management of the following key financial processes to ensure effective business control & quality –
  • Accounts payable including payment practices reporting
  • Banking & cash including Airbus reporting (Electronic Bank Accounts Management / Payment Factory)
  • Taxation including related government submissions
  • Month / Year end accounting processes including Airbus Group accounts reporting (FACTS)
  • Annual Statutory Accounts audit
  • Overhead budgeting & control
  • Hourly rates – internal & external (European Space Agency, Ministry of Defence, UK Space Agency) including any related agency rate audits
  • Capital expenditure
  • Update and maintenance of related processes and documents to satisfy Airbus Group Financial compliance (e.g. Internal Controls Self-Assessment, Anti-Bribery & Corruption) including related audits.
  • Act as the focal point for accounting with regards to new ERP system roll out.
  • Review and improve processes to meet recognised accounting standards and to optimise financial control.
  • Act as the focal point for Airbus Central Accounts & Treasury departments.
  • Act as the focal point for the external auditors with regards to the Statutory Audit.
  • Support Project Accounting team with Satellite Operations controlling activities.
  • Ad-hoc requests to support the Finance Director.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

Chartered ACA / ACCA qualified.

Experience

UK GAAP / IFRS

Management & leadership track record.

Proven and demonstrable experience in a relevant role.

Proven experience within a dynamic and fast paced organisation.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to prioritise and steer team to work & deliver to tight deadlines.

  • Proactive and able to take initiative to address issues & implement improvements across the business.
  • Ability to use various Microsoft Tools (e.g. Excel, Power point, Data Warehouse, Share point).
  • Extensive experience of ERP systems. Experience with system implementations would be desired but not essential.
