Earth Observation Missions Spacecraft Operations Engineer (f/m/d)

Telespazio Germany is looking to complement their current Earth Observation Mission Operations team with additional engineering support, delivering services to ESA/ESOC for the CRYOSAT-2 & SWARM missions. This position is based at ESOC in Darmstadt. It is full-time and permanent.

What You Will Focus on 

The general activities to be supported by this service are:

  • Study of Project specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation.
  • Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations.
  • Preparation of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures.
  • Mission Management and Mission Planning Support Service.
  • Support for Mission Control System evolution and testing.
  • Participation in the team Training Program.
  • Participation in all Mission Critical Operations.
  • General Flight Control Support Service.
  • Spacecraft Performance Analysis.
  • Platform System Operations Engineering Support.
  • Payload (including Payload Management) System Operations Engineering Support.
  • On-Call service

What You Bring

  • University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering

Essentially

  • Spacecraft Payload or Platform subsystem knowledge (DHS/OBSM/AOCS/Power/Thermal).
  • Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and writing.
  • Coordination with other service providers in operations (team player)
  • Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat
  • Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000
  • Programming knowledge (Python, Bash)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Generation of Flight Procedures and validation
  • Satellite Verification Test planning & execution.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with the ESOC environment.
  • Familiarity with Earth Observation satellite operations.
  • Experience with SQL database updates and application deployments in a configuration-controlled environment.
  • Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc.
  • Familiarity with MOIS
